Did You Know . . .

If you have a PPO or EPO, you have more freedom with respect to primary care physicians. With a PPO or EPO you
may be under the care of more than one internist or pediatrician simultaneously. This is not possible with an HMO or
POS even when they are direct access plans with no referrals to specialists. No referrals to specialists means you
have direct access to specialists. You do not need “permission” from your PCP to go to a specialists, which is very
important. However, you may be under the care of only one PCP at a time.
